Snow Day! School's cancelled! How would you spend the day?

Dear students,

Many of you when writing about your holiday wishes, wrote about your hopes for snow during the winter break.  Since that wish didn't come true, let's fantasize about it.  Please write about how you would spend your day if you woke up to six inches of snow and school had been cancelled.  Bring this day to life.  Be descriptive so that the reader can live vicariously through your writing.

Who knows?  This fantasy might really come true.

This should be at least 5+ sentences in length and don't forget your NAME and PERIOD at the end.  Yes, grammar counts!

DUE Thursday, January 19th by 5 p.m.

  1. Have you noticed the weather report for Sunday, January 15th? There is the mention of snow. So let's pretend that on next week we have a "Snow Day"!

Have fun writing about what you will do with your day off from school.

  2. If there was a snow day next week and school would be canceled, I would get up and play video games most of the day. I'd eventually go outside and play in the snow, I might make a snow fort. Then I'd make some hot chocolate with the homemade marshmallows my mom made. Me and my family would make lunch, but I would make a chicken patty sandwich because I'm a picky eater. Finally, I'd play video games until dinner then go to bed.

  3. It is snowing now, and no school. Oh! This is excellent. In china we often 10 year to had one time. Today I’m going to spend all with snow. I made a gigantic igloo with my friend and my brother. Not very like the Eskimos igloos because I think the safety only 75%! The roof falls of for 2 times. I build it in my backyard. My backyard is a beautiful place. Almost surrounded my backyard. Making this igloo often made my hand cold, even with gloves. Also the wind is big, and slap on my face (That hurt). We make big snowballs to put them together, and put snow to fill the holes. We made it! We have a grate day. That I dream I made a snow castle! wish we can have more snowing in brake.

  4. If I woke up at 7:00 in the morning, expecting to have to get out of bed, get dressed, and go to school, but looking out the window and seeing six inches of snow! I would have a smile from ear to ear. Knowing that I had the chance to sleep in, that would probably be the first thing on my agenda. Then, after reliving the moment of waking up to snow, i would definitely put on a warm jacket and scarf, and go play in the snow with all of my friends! And finally, after enjoying our six inches of snow, i would get in my warm pajamas and have a nice cup of hot cocoa.

  5. If i were to wake up to a school day seeing six inches of snow I would jump out of bed to go see the snow! Depending on the mood I would either go back to sleep for a couple hours or rush into the snow. The first thing I would do would to get out my sled and sled down a very big hill! The best part is when you have the icy cool breeze slapping u in the face. After sledding until I get tired, I will go in and have a nice hot cocoa.

  6. Ahh snow… Always so nice to have, but sadly here in Oregon snow doesn’t come every year. So I take advantage of it whenever possible. If I were to wake up to 6 inches of snow i would have a happiness explosion. So after getting on my clothes and running outside with my sled I’ll go down the biggest hill in our neighborhood. When my friends and I sled we like to link arms and knock down the people coming back up the hill. On the way down we also knock down a few garbage cans on the way. So the people come out and we get scolded. But being a kid I never learn so back down knocking garbage cans. Fingers crossed for snow, flush 3 ice cubes down the toilet, wear your pj’s inside out, and sleep with a spoon under your pillow.

  7. If I were to wake up one morning to find that it was snowing on a school day, I would rush into my parents room, and than ask them if school was cancelled that day. If it was, I would be sooooooooooo happy! I would get a sled, and go find the biggest hill, and start sledding until I'm tired and eventually go back into my house, and call some friends up to hang in the snow. Then, we would go in, and have hot chocolate... Then go back outside for more fun. After they left, I would eat dinner, and relax by the fire.

  8. If I woke up at 7:00 in the morning expecting to go to school and saw snow, I would probably just get back in bed and sleep for another hour or two. Then I would get all my snow stuff on and go sledding down this huge steap driveway on our street with all my friends. After having a bunch of fun in the snow I would get my PJ's on and have some hot coco and eat soup or just something thats warm.
    Thats my perfect snow day!

  9. If such a day ever did happen in Lake Oswego, here's what I'd do:

Scream for 10 minutes. Then I'd call my friends and scream some more. After the screaming was done, we'd make plans to meet and play in the snow! So I'd stuff down my breakfast, get ready in record time (leaving my mom staring at me, flabbergasted, as I raced down the stairs before her) and am almost out the door when......

My mom stops me, and makes me put on "proper weather clothes". Not missing a beat, I race back upstairs and get dressed in the "5-Layer Mom Style".

After that, I'd go outside and have fun watching my breath come out as fluffy, white smoke. My friends and I make snow angels and laugh until our sides hurt. Then after a few innocent snowballs being chucked around, it turns into a snowball fight! Soon we'd get all the neighborhood kids to join in and divide into teams, making forts and ambushing the enemy! Then pretty soon we all turn against each other and it basically becomes "every kid for itself".

After we're all done with the snowball fight, we'd break out the snowboards and go to the big hill in my neighborhood. Down, then back up. Down, then back up. Again and again we'd go, until the trees had little dents in them and the paint on our snowboards were starting to peel off.

    Then comes Mr. Frosty!

Snowman building is about as creative as you can get. Cucumber nose instead of a carrot? Go for it! Throw on a cashmere sweater for style? Fashionista! Chocolate snowman eyes? Yum! When our snowmen are completed, we're pretty much pooped out. Saying farewells, we trudge back to our houses and shake the snow from our boots. We hang up our freezing cold, soaked through jackets and huddle in a blanket by the fire, slowly sipping our hot chocolate and wishing the snow is still there tomorrow.

  10. If my little brother came in my room and yelled "Michael!!! Its snowing outside...at 7:00 A.M." I would jump out of my bed and put some clothes on that I would wear for the snow and jump outside and start sledding. As soon as I'm done sledding down my ginormous hill I'd go inside and start making some hot chocolate with mini marshmallows and mini gummy bears!!!! I know, I'm weird that way. After that I will probably hang out with some friends and have some fun with then.

P.S.....Jimmy,"u" spelled "u" wrong in the second to last sentence... just saying.

  11. I really miss snow, but if I woke up to six inches i'd be very happy. I'd wolf down my breakfast and run outside. First, I'd try to make a wall to hide behind. After I have a sizable wall I'd wait for my brother to wake up. When my brother wakes up i'd plead with him to have a snowball fight with me. When he says yes (after an hour or so) I'd go outside, make a bunch of snowballs and prepare for war. Right when his foot touches the ground I'd pelt him with snowballs. After our fight is over I'd probably go inside play some video games, and then play a board game with my family.

  12. School days would start out at 7:15 with an "I do' wanna go to school," to "zzzzzzzz." My days usually start out with the school part on weekdays I mean who's doesn't. But after I heard snow day from my sis I galloped down stairs yelling happily like when the Miami Heat beat the Mavs. "Hahahaha YES, booyah!" I would then have some breakfast (hopefully we would have cinnamon sugar Noah's bagel. Then off I would go in the wilderness packed in my three layers with my sled at hand. At 10:00 adrenaline is kicking in and I slide my sled in front of me and jump. ''Weeeeeee!" And I'm down the drive way, but don't say that that adrenaline wouldn't come in on that because our hill is steep, very steep. After a long walk up to "The Big Hill" where usually find Quincy H. on snow days. We stay up there for about 4 to 6 hours then if Q can't come over I get my "brother" Ryan (my cousin) to. We would chill and play Xbox then he would go home a few hours after dinner then I would head upstairs read for awhile then fall into a deep sleep dreaming about another perfect snow day...maybe tomorrow.

  13. I wake up at 6:00 am, and I go down stairs. I see my dad watching the news and he tells me " Andy go back to sleep, you don't have school today."
I look outside and see a winter wonderland. There is snow everywhere. I go back to sleep, and wake up at 9:00 am. Then I get my jacket on, and go outside. After that, my little brother and I sled down my driveway, which is a huge hill. Then my little brother and I will have a snowball fight. After the snowball fight, we will go inside and have a nice warm cup of hot chocolate.

  14. Well first of all I'd sleep in till who knows when. After I'm done sleeping I'd go down stairs and be amazed by the snow! That wouldn't take long so my next task would be making myself a huge, jumbo, and gigantic cup of hot chocolate with a movie on the side. However once I'm done doing that my trampoline would be calling my name! I'd be outside for a while but once I get bored my friends would be on the case. I would share the rest of my time with my family and friends even if were having a snow ball fit!! And between all my activities I's make room for a nerf gun fit with my brothers. It's three against one but I always win!

  15. Waking up at 7 AM to 6 inches of snow would be amazing. But knowing me I would mostly likely fall back asleep until 9 AM. Then I would pile on about 5 or 6 layers of clothing and about 2 pairs of fuzzy socks. Finally I would grab my sled and race outside. Once outside I would go to my friends house and we would go to the hill by out houses. Once their we would sled until our faces were numb.
After this we would decide to build a snowman family. In the end we would have a mama snowman and daddy snowman and a kid snowman. Somehow this would turn into a snowball fight and it would go on until we were both soaked through all out layers. Dragging our sleds we would go back to our houses, curl up in blankets, drink hot chocolate and watch T.V.

  18. My day would go something like this:
The alarm clock fills my ears with a loud droning as it interrupts my peaceful slumber. Like a titanic beast emerging from winter hibernation, I slowly climb out of bed and stumble across the room. The clock reads 6:01. I deactivate its annoying alarm, and, with doubt in my mind but hope in my heart,I peer out the window to asses the accuracy of the weather reports. What meets my eyes astounds me. Six solid inches of snow, stretching as far as the eye can see, blanketing everything in sight, illuminated in the dark winter morning by the orange glow of the street lights. One thought crosses my mind: There will be no school today.
I immediately head downstairs. I have no intention of sleeping in, as once awakened I stay in that state of being. I read for a few hours until my rather noisy younger brother awakens. At that point, we head outside to meticulously craft snowballs for aerodynamic perfection, then destroy our hard work by using trash cans as target practice. After this would come a rendezvous with the other kids in the neighborhood and the snowball fight to end all snowball fights (until next winter, of course). By mid afternoon, with our fighting spirit exhausted, we would likely retire to hang out at my house, drink hot cocoa, and play board games. After dinner, I would likely rush through my homework, then watch a movie with my family. If only this would happen. IF ONLY!!! WHY CAN"T THE STUPID WEATHER SNOW AT LEAST A MEASLY SIX INCHES! FOUR INCHES! EVEN ONE INCH WOULD BE SUFFICIENT! WHY?!?

  20. If I woke up to six inches of snow, I would yell to my sister," Julia, put on your clothes, fuzzy socks, and boots we're going outside!" Then once I have all my layers on I would build a big snowman. Then my sister and I would have a snowball fight. Next we would build a Mrs. Snowman so Mr. Snowman doesn't get lonely. After that I would watch a movie with my family inside and have a hot cacao with extra whipped cream.

  21. If I were to wake up to six inches of snow I would go into my brother's room and nicely awake him to put on warm clothes and get outside because there was a surprise out there. Then I would let my mom know we are going outside to have a snowball fight and make snowmen. After playing in the snow, I would come back inside, change into my footie pajama's, turn on the fireplace, make me and my brother the best hot chocolate ever with marshmallows and cookies on the side, and watch a classic movie of his choice. Then I would call some of my friends to come and play in the snow or to have some more hot cocoa. Finally, I would ask if my mom can come and help us make snowballs, but really make it into a spectacular snowball fight.

  22. Ummmmmmmm..................... If I woke up, looked out the window, and saw there was about six inches of snow, the first thing I would do would go back to sleep. i would sleep in pretty long since i usually don't sleep in much. Then when I wake I would go in my brothers room and draw on his face because I know he likes to sleep a lot and he's a heaver sleeper. After that I would throw on some warm clothes and go play in the snow for a bit. After that, I would go inside and take a nap for about three hours. After I wake up, I would make popcorn, watch a few movies, and then talk to friends or something. I have no clue what I would do on a snow day actually. I made up some of the stuff, even though the only thing I made up was drawing on my brothers face, but I'll just do that later on the weekend. The Joker and Batman don't get along so well. Joker just wants to joke around a lot, but Batman takes so much stuff so seriously. That just doesn't work out. Batman needs to learn to just chill out and not be so serious all the time. That way, the Joker and Batman could get along better. The bad thing is that if that actually did happen, there probably wouldn't be a superhero or villain so there wouldn't be anymore Joker and Batman scenarios. That's my take on a six inch snow day.

  24. If it snowed, this is what would happen: I would sleep. Sleep in all day long until I finally wake up and realize it’s snowing. I would run carefully down the stairs, so I wouldn’t trip, and I would throw on my snow gear which would be: gloves, a warm hat, snow pants, 2 pairs of socks, snow boots, maybe a scarf (If I could find one), a sweater, then a puffy snow jacket on top of that sweater, and I would wear my warm and cozy pajama’s under all of it. Then, you would hear a door being pulled open and slammed. “YAY! SNOW! I LOVE SNOW! LET’S HAVE A SNOWBALL FIGHT!” I would yell. Then you would hear “NO! RUN AWAY!” From my little brother and sister, they would be horrified... yes, torcher the 5 and 7 year old siblings. Lastly (the best part) I would come in 3 hours later and give the wet snow clothes to mom and she has to dry it in the dryer. THE END

  25. If school was canceled, and snow was falling rapidly, it would be a miracle to me and my friends. My first response to the snow would be to hook up with some buddies and find an amazing sledding hill! I might also decide to go for a walk with my dog, Darby. She loves the snow very much. It's really funny to see her scoop up snow with her wet nose.

  26. If school was cancelled by a snow day, I would probably get out my shoebox filled with index cards with snow-related pranks written on them and I would get all of my friends to come over to my house. Before they would come over, I would randomly chose a card and I would get working. By the time they realized what hit them, they obviously would try to get revenge on me, incidentally causing a huge snowball fight. Of course I would make a truce with my best friend, Reed, and us being the most weapons and battlefield tactic geniuses, we would own everyone. Instead of a snowball fight, we might actually have an Air soft was instead. But if that doesn't work, I have a few spare Nerf guns that we can use.

Eventually, we would get tired and would make the most messed-up snowmen ever. I'm talking about snowmen that could've been victims from Saw, or Chucky. But then my friends would have to go back home, and I would just have to settle down from the day's excitement by drinking tea or coffee while watching The Office.

  27. On that totally, awesome, amazing day, I started out by dressing in a short sleeved shirt and shorts. Then I went over to my friend’s house and we began to make the biggest igloo in the world. We went all over town to gather the snow we needed to accomplish this goal. Then we had some mint chocolate chip ice cream with Twix, Oreos, skittles, Mike and Ike, and candy canes all mixed together as a break. Then we played some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for about three hours then we continued on our igloo. By the time we finished it was five times the size of my house!! It was complete with seven bedrooms and three and a half baths. It also had a spiral staircase which lead to the second, third and fourth floor. In the basement it had a huge family room with an indoor pool. We went to go buy a seventy-four inch plasma screen HD T.V. to put in the family room so we could hook the XBOX 360 up and play MW3 there. Then we stayed up all night playing video games. The one part that was the saddest to me is that it was over and the day had ended…

Then, I would get into my snow gear and head outside. I would grab my sled and head to the steepest hill in my neighborhood. I would sled there for about five to six hours, then drag myself home. At home, I would make a mug of hot coco and sit next to a roaring fire, while watching the weather reports for tomorrow. Lastly, I would get ready for bed hoping for more snow tomorrow. But, just in case, I would ensure a snow day by flushing ice cubes down the toilet.

  41. If I woke up to six inches of wonderful snow and school was cancelled...

I immediately put on my boots, grab my dog Lola, and play in the winter snow. I start throwing giant snowballs at Lola while she jumps on her hind legs to catch them in her mouth. After a fun half hour I go inside and buddle up on the couch with some warm hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. When my brothers wakes up we go to the storage unit in the garage to grab our sleds. We have to be very careful while sledding down our hill because it is very steep and we have witnessed many car accidents on the street. My mom comes down with us, just to be safe. While one of us is sledding down the other two keep watch one at the top, one at the bottom. As I fly down the hill the wind feels amazing as it rushes passes me. All too soon, my turn is over and I have to walk up the slippery hill to keep watch while my brother takes his turn.
