  1. I walk down the porch steps to the backyard with Katie and Ilsa close at my heels. With a book in one hand and a cold diet Dr. Pepper in the other, I quickly settle into my favorite reading spot - the wooden Adirondack loveseat. It’s a perfect fit. Any stress drains from my body as I relax my book on my lap and set my drink on the oversized armrest. The dogs quickly collapse in a pile by my feet. I crack my book open and begin to read. The large branches of the plum tree shade me from the afternoon sun, and I watch the honeybees visit the hibiscus tree’s lavender blossoms a few feet away. Children a few house down the street squeal with laughter as they play outside. Katie and Ilsa lift their heads and cock their ears to listen. After dismissing the threat, they go back to sleep. I give my book my full attention and surrender to the developing plot.

  2. My favorites place is in Spain Barcelona. I went to Barcelona two times. Barcelona is beside the Mediterranean Sea. So it is very warm. It doesn’t snow in the winter. I saw a famous and amazing church called Sagrada Família church, Gaudi's masterpiece. It builds 100 years now is not finish, it is building, too. I ate seafood rice. It’s so good. I like Barcelona. It’s good for living.

  3. People are running and laughing. The warm sun beats down on the back of my neck but its rays feel soft and comforting. I am one in a large crowd of people surging forward to enjoy what the park has to offer. My family and I race onward through the crowd, the shops around us blur into colors, until we reach what we are looking for. A tall menacing building looms before us. Screams fill the air as we look up at one of the gaping windows. We all smile and begin to walk forward to join the line. I glance at the wait time and see it reads fifteen minutes. The smile on my face could not possibly get any larger. It's worth the wait to ride the Tower of Terror.

  4. Out of all of the great places that I have been, my favorit one would have to be my dining room. When I was little I would always sit with my mom and dad, when ever we were sitting in the dining room we would sit and crack a good book. We would always have a process that we would do which is really fun. I will never forget those times.

  5. My favorite place I have been is the barn. I love the sweet smell of hay and horses. As soon as you walk up you can hear the whinny of a horse and the laughter of the girls who ride them. Everyone there is like a huge family, we support each other, help each other, laugh with each other. The barn (Big Dog Horse Stables is the name) is one of the friendliest places I have been. There is no yelling in the barn, no arguments or fights, just good times filled with laughter, and horse riding.

There is also rollerskating, the arena is made up of bumpy parts. There is snack bars, when I walk by the snack bar, the smell of freshly baked carmel makes my head spin. Finialy, there are fun games to play, my favorite game to play is win the poster!

  8. My favorite place is Las Vegas, Nevada, I love the warm sun on my back as I'm on my knee hunting for lizards like Horny Toad. Digging through the sand with my dad. Afterward we go back to my grandma's house and cool off with a nice cool Pepsi.

  9. The day is cloudy and overcast, but my family and I walk down to the beach anyway. We are planning to climb the giant sand dune that lies on the edge of Pacific City, where we are staying. We trek to the dune across the sand, avoiding the cars that are parked facing the Pacific Ocean. When we reach the colossal sand dune, we kick off our sandals and begin the arduous climb up. It takes around a half an hour of hard work to reach the top, where we are treated to a spectacular view of the punchbowl filled with tumultuous waves below. After a short rest period, we get to the fun part: running out of control down the dune, where we regroup and head to a burger and fries dinner.

  10. It was a nice warm day as i had the warming sun beat against my back. I would walk slowly through cannon beaches sand to get the supplies for a sandcastle. Then we would go window shopping and get Bruce's candy. Lastly we would end the fun day by going to Moes.

  11. I would have to say my favorite place is in Seattle. It is very warm and has a nice breeze. It has great pig out spots and very great stores to look in. We usually go in the Spring or the summer. About the 3 and a half our drive is worth seeing and going in the Space Needle and a lot of other things :). Yeah Buddy.

  12. A thumping noise reverbrates through the house as I race up the stairs to the third floor. Quickly, I walk down the hallway towards my bedroom and slam open the door. I emerge into my somewhat untidy bedroom dominated by a bunk bed on one end and a desk over by the corner of the other end. A massive 18th century lego sailing frigate lies on a unused wooden box near my desk, with gunports opened and cannons aimed at my alarm clock. I make my way towards my very untidy desk which serves primarily as my computer area. Books, computer game manuals, CDs,papers, and gum wrappers lay in a pile to the left of my computer, and a large globe dominates the right side. A Lego Space poster gives me something to be distracted by when I am working on my homework. In random places in and around my desk reside oddities such as half of a decomposing, moldy baseball, a plastic dragon wing, sea monkey eggs, and fossils of fosilized fish. I contemplate the nameless things that dwell in the furthest corners of my desk as I sit down, open up my laptop, and play Civilization IV.

  13. My favorite place is North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I love how the warm sun is beating down on me while I’m swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Then when I get out of the ocean, I go collecting cool seashells. Then I go downtown to fancy restaurants and have a magnificent dinner.

  14. I would have to say that my favorite place would be Seaside, Oregon. I really love that place because i love the beach! I also love that if you get just the right spot in a hotel or wherever you want to stay, you can get a beautiful view of the beach in the evening time. I also really like Seaside because there is a lot of very fun things to do when you are there. It is like a little village where everybody goes to have a good time and have so much fun. Seaside is just such a good place where you can take some time off if you're always busy, kick your shoes, lean back and just relax.

  16. My favorite place by far would have to be Rancho Bernardo, California. That is where I moved to after living here for all eleven years of my life then, and where I moved from after living there for two years. The reason I chose to write about this part of San Diego where I lived, was because it was nothing like I expected it to be. You know how you feel when you move some place new? That's how I felt on my first day of the 5th grade. Everything was so new to me! The kids where different, there where more male teachers there and I had my first male teacher there, too. But the one thing that was really different was that there were no 6th graders at this school which meant I had to be the leader and set the example for all the younger kids there. So I did and that all payed off because at the end of the year I graduated! Then I went into middle school and met even more new people who I got a long with every well. I will never forget those amazing burgers at In-N-Out Burger and those animal style fries. Those hot summer days and wet spring rainy day. But never EVER will I forget the awesome friends I had and still do have that I met down there in Rancho Bernardo, California.

  17. My favorite place to go is Maui, Hawaii. I love to surf, swim and hang out on the beach. I love the warm nice weather, because it is a nice change from Oregon. I like the tropical feel and how pretty the area is. The palm trees sway and the ocean is blue. I have a great time every time I go there and I love to spend my summer in Hawaii.

  18. My favorite place would have to be Chicago. With all the buildings and lights twinkling at night. It's all such a dream until someone stills your purse or pit pockets you. How I think of Chicago is that it's a treasure hunt. There's a lot of ways to get around but there's only one destination. Then you find it! You either get good food and a fantastic store or the opposite. At the end though it all seems right. Them you can't find your car.?! My mom and I couldn't fined our car.

Me and my family went snorkeling at the molokini Crater, it was lots of fun. I agree with Sophie i love the prettiness of it all and warmness. Its a great experience everyone should live a little once awhile!! :) <3

  20. Mmm. Is that butter I smell? My friends and I wait patiently as a slightly awkward, young ticket clerk with freckles scattered across his face prints out our tickets. He hands them over with fumbling hands and we continue into the crowded, brightly lit building that never disappoints.

Almost every chance I get, I love going to the movie theater. To see a long-anticipated sequel or just to try something out, I always have a good time. It's a place to just relax and enjoy the film with either your best friends or family. Comedies, dramas, or adventure-you really can't go wrong! It's become sort of a tradition now, and I feel it actually makes you closer to somebody, even if you're not talking.

TV screens show commercials of the latest movies and flickering neon lights showcase the room. The aroma of butter is definitely stronger now, and the smell of bright gold popcorn being scooped into bags wafts over to us as we sniff the air with delight. After purchasing our snacks we make our way down the dark hallway and look for the sign that indicates our movie. We pass several doors before we find ours: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. What can I say? We're all die-hard fans. We try to be quiet as we find our seats but a few giggles slip past our lips. After receiving probably more shushes than necessary, we finally settle into our seats. We lean back and prop our feet up, forgetting every worry that crossed our minds. We clear our heads of homework, boys, squabbles with a classmate, and chores. Only quiet and peace in a relaxing environment-even if only for a few hours. Nothing can disturb this moment.

Then the opening credits blast onto the screen.

  21. I am lying in a hammock by a rushing river, reading a book. I can hear the rustling leaves and smell the fresh pine trees. Family members run and play on the grass nearby. This is Camp Sherman, Oregon, the place of our annual family reunion. Here, I can relax and forget all my problems and stress back at home. My extended family comes here each July to relax and have fun with family.

  23. The plane stops and all I want tot do is get my bag and start running to the exit.... But I can't. I just have to wait for a couple of people to pass by, and then I take my bag and start walking to the steps. I step off of the plane, and the hot air shoots me right in the face. I walk down the steps of the side of the plane, and I stop at the side, and wait for my family. We go to the front of the indoor and outdoor airport and make our way to the bus stop to hop on a bus, and go to the car dealership. My brother and I are sitting in the shade, begging for a drink of water, but it's too late, the bus is already here. We hop on and go to the car dealership, and after that we go to the hotel. We have a really nice hotel, with an unusual bird outside that apparently has been there for over SEVENTY YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! There is a pool right outside, and there's a lot of food places to explore... But wait.... Why is there only one bed, and a pull out sofa.... My brother always gets the sofa and..... Oh no!!! "Aidan, looks like you've got the floor, and the blow-up mattress." says my dad. This is going to be a long, but very fun trip to Hawaii.

  25. What do you think of when you think of Africa? Probably blistering hot, dead trees, dry grass, dusty planes. That is some of Africa but the other half of it is almost as green as Oregon. Africa is the most amazing place I have ever been mostly because the food they have is so unique and different in a good way. My most favorite activity I did there was going in the Safaris and seeing lions, elephants, and rhinos only inches away. It was the best experience i have ever had and I think if you ever get a chance to visit Africa. Take it!

  26. My absolute favorite place in the whole world would have to be Los Angelas, California. With it's tall green palm trees and hot sun, it's my highlight of the year to visit it. My grandparents live there, so I frequently visit it. As soon as I step on the hot Los Angelas ground, I know that this is my favorite place to be. It is about twice as hot there than it is in gloomy, gray Oregon.

  27. I step outside and immediately feel the warm air hit my skin. I’ve just had breakfast downstairs in the hotel and I am waiting to go somewhere fun. We head out to the car and start driving. When we reach our destination, we see it is a tram. We are on the tram and can see everything. All of the dry dirt ground and the cactus below us look so small compared to when we are on the ground. This place is New Mexico. We stayed in New Mexico for a month and got to feel that hot summer air hit our skin every day along with being able to swim every day for hours on end. I loved staying in New Mexico and can’t wait to go again.

  28. My favorite place to go is Hawaii. I love everything about it. From the food to surfing it’s all great. I go to Hawaii almost every year. I go surfing in the morning and work up an appetite for the delicious food. I eat a ton there. It’s a really fun place to go. I never had a bad experience there. Oregon is usually wet and gloomy but Hawaii’s always warm and sunny. I’m going to Hawaii for spring break and I know I’ll have a great time.
