Dear Students,
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite novel is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It is a science fiction novel and the first in a trilogy that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem located in what was once known as North America. I am totally caught up in the life of sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen who is forced to participate in a vicious realty television game known as the Hunger Games. The setting of the novel is refreshing and unique and the theme of surviving against all odds makes this novel a page turner.
I am looking forward to reading about your favorite novels since I will soon be needing new reading material.

My favorite novel is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. It is a Thriller novel and is written by Stephen King. I love this book because it's from a point of view I can understand. Trisha is a nine year old girl who becomes lost in the wilderness where imagination can take over. This book definitely pin points those tiny little fears that you are able to keep hidden.

My favorite novel is Return of the King. The author is J.R.R. Tolkien, and the genre is fantasy. I like this book because the author has the best writing style i've ever seen. His words form videos, pictures, sounds in my head when i read this book. Return of the King is about a world i wouldn't mind going to. J.R.R. Tolkiens world is original, unlike a bunch of other author's books who just copied off of other people, and that's why I like Return of the King.

One of my favorite books would have to be 1984, a speculative fiction novel by George Orwell. It is a chilling narrative describing a future in which a totalitarian police state has its cizitens under constant surveillance every second of the day. The police state, Oceania, is ruled by a mysterious, omnipotent, and possibly nonexistent ruler known as Big Brother. Could anybody possibly escape the hold of the all-powerful Party? And just what is in the enigmatic Room 101? 1984 is a gripping book that offers a grim outlook into the future and is sure to keep you totally engrossed from the first sentence to the last four words.

ReplyDeleteThe author is J.K Rowling (or Joanne Kathleen Rowling.) The genre of the series is probably, I would say, fantasy. The series are my favorite books ever because they are filled with humor, exciting adventures, twist and turns at every chapter, creative mythical creatures, vivid descriptions that paint pictures that are so clear you don't even need to see the movie! (That's just a figure of speech, the movies are actually epic :P) And it also includes perspective changes of a pre-teen as the characters grow older. Sometimes I wish I lived in that world!
I think everyone should give it a try, and they'd be surprised how much they love it :)

ReplyDeletethe novel 'wizards first rule' by terry goodkind is by far my favorite book I've ever read. he is an amazing writer, continuing this amazing series through quite a few books. i like this series because of the in-depth story, rich characters, and a long series to work with. my very favorite genre of book is a toss up between fantasy, and realistic fiction. a very good realistic fiction book is dead heat, by Felix Francis and Dick Francis. anybody who is into sophisticated books should read both (Mrs. Allan) just remember, if you want to take on wizards firs rule, just remember it is almost 900 pages, and the next book in the series is over 1,000 pages.

One book that I have read lately was the Harry Potter series. Infact I have read it like, 5 times! In this series J.K. Rowling really outdid herself! I think one of my favorite places to visit would be Mexico. I think this because we went there for a vacation and went snorkeling we saw a lot of coral and some multi colored fish. It was near the end of November and the temputure was 75 to 80 degrees. We also got to visit an ancient Aztec ruins with a pryamid that was off limits it was still cool to look at. I would take that vacation any day over the Oregon coast.

ReplyDeleteI think one of my favorite place that I've been to is Grand Turk. I think this is the best place to visit because it has a bunch of beaches the water is blue and i mean blue. When you go snorkling there are many fish swimming next and under you. The bottome of the ocean is colorful coral and some sand. You snorkel on a reef that is right next to the beach. In Grand Turk the weather is 80 to 90 degrees its awesome. On the beach there is beach chairs and cabannas set up for you before you come to the beach. The beach chairs are blue with white strips, over your chairs there are coconut trees and palm trees. Once you walk out of the beach you end up in the square. The square has all the grocery stores and shops. You could say the square is kind of the whole city. Once you leave the city you are in the neighborhoods. They dont have houses like us there more like huts and little houses. Over all I'd choose Grand Turk over the Oregon Coast.

My favorite place is a shooting area where there's just tow HUGE mountains of gravel, where people could just bring targets and their guns and go shooting. I only been there once, and that was when I first shot a gun, and I was pretty good at it. It's my favorite place because shooting is my favorite hobby and since it's typically cold over there, the air is really fresh, which wakens you up. I love the fresh air. If that doesn't wake you up though, then take off your earplugs and see what happens!

My favorite place is the town square during market day in Provence, France. People are bustling around the shops and stalls, eating, drinking, laughing, and chatting in French while merchants try to sell their goods over the joyous clamor. If I could, I would be there now because of the authenticity of all the people there. That is without-a-doubt my favorite place ever. Of all time.

Right when I get off that hot and suffocating airplane I see the sparkling sunlight hit my eyes after 2 ½ hours on a plane. Once I get to the hotel I immediately change and go down to the restaurant to gulp down a cool drink. As I finish, I gently glide into the chilled pool. A shiver goes down my spine as I quickly put my head underwater. I see my family coming down the steps to join me. This wonderful place is San Diego, California. I feel the urge to go back and lay down to get tan once I wake up to the pilot speaking in the radio to alert everyone that we have arrived.

The next day we are sailing across the bay with close family friend. When i'm on the water still hear the noise form the busy city. My favorite place is the bay area in north California. I was born in the bay area and all of my family lives there. I love sailing in the bay and looking at all the islands as we cross under the golden gate bridge.

My favorite place is Taiwan on a sunny day, on Yan Ming Shan, a mountain. The plants are lush, green, and beautiful while catching the light. The sun shines upon the mountain and warms up everyone on it. The flowers are blooming and the mountain is silent. The beautiful ponds are full of plants. Yan Ming Shan is very peaceful and beautiful, and is kept well. The mountain feels like a part of nature, not a man made garden. That's why Yan Ming Shan is my favorite place.

I step outside and immediately feel the warm air hit my skin. I’ve just had breakfast downstairs in the hotel and I am waiting to go somewhere fun. We head out to the car and start driving. When we reach our destination, we see it is a tram. We are on the tram and can see everything. All of the dry dirt ground and the cactus below us look so small compared to when we are on the ground. This place is New Mexico. We stayed in New Mexico for a month and got to feel that hot summer air hit our skin every day along with being able to swim every day for hours on end. I loved staying in New Mexico and can’t wait to go again.
